Commenting...

Why do we comment on each others' blogs? Actually what I've been thinking about lately is why sometimes we "don't" comment...

I read quite a number of blogs... there are some I read daily (unless I'm awfully busy... as was the case the past couple of days) and some I check every now and then... I usually comment on the ones I read daily... sometimes I don't really have something to say so I don't write anything...I comment when there's something being discussed that interests me... when the blogger is asking for advice or needs support...for fun..etc..Gradually I've started to feel some bloggers are actually friends... virtual maybe.. but friends nonetheless...

However; there are a few blogs I read every now and then.. yet I NEVER comment!!!! Why? It's like I read them like a magazine or something.. I don't interact... why? Don't they interest me? Obviously they do... otherwise I wouldn't keep coming back would I? So why don't I comment?!?! I don't know if it's just me or if there are other people out there who do the same thing!!!

Well Me , I'm one of those ppl who does the same!
I check ALOT of blogs, everyday..I'm addicted to them, yet I don't usually comment.
Don't have clear reason for that, yet I guess it's a fear of rejection , maybe.. cause I feel that whoever comments on a blog should be related to the blogger some way or another..and I don't like to feel not welcomed.
Though when I think about it..I actually like the comments that I get from ppl I don't know!!

Well you're welcome here Rain :-)

I don't know any of the bloggers in real life by the way and they're not related to me in any way...so all the comments I get are from people I don't know in real life...yet I know now in "cyber life".... and once in a while someone new drops by and I gradually get to know them too... just like you would in real life ... socialising and meeting new people... I'm enjoying the experience...

PS. I'm sort of addicted to reading blogs too :-D (when I have time)

Thanks Me :)
And when I said "related" , I meant it in the blogsphere sense.. when I check a certain blog, usually there exists a circle of virtual and/or real acquaintances who periodically exchange comments.. so it feels like a sort of community.. and I'm a little of the introverted type.
It all begins with the first step though :)

Me too "Me" i dont blog for ppl i know, to be on my own.

I think i go over many blogs too, but i only comment over certain amount of them, the ones i feel comfortable not only by reading their blogs , but by everything about the blogger, attitude ... ideas & believes, i comment coz i want to be connected with that blogger on the blogosphere ... to be my next door Neighbor.

yes me, it is pretty much the same...I go thru many blogs but I don't comment in all of them....this usually goes with political ones, or wherever I really can't comment. Sometimes u feel that u need to comment although ur comment won't add a lot to the conversation...but u feel like saying a simple word keda.

I am glad (me) that you opened this subject. I will tell you my exact feeling: Some blogs I read daily and comment to them, they became more like a friend whom you call daily on the phone to check upon him:)
However, I used to enjoy reading some blogs and I used to comment too. Then, I stopped commenting and gradually stopped reading. I will tell you why: I think that one someone comments in my blog as if he/she has visited me at my home. I have to take a chocolate box and payback his/her visit.
When I post comments to some bloggers and they never visit my site or post a comment, I feel offended, as if I am not welcomed at their blog. So, I stop commenting but as I am addicted, I keep on reading but without commenting. Gradually, I lose interest and I get the feeling that I already have enough cyber-friends and I don't need someone who is not interested in reading my blog.
Also, I hate it when I post a comment and the blog host does not reply, isn't that rude?
Sometimes I post a comment even if the subject is of no interest to me, as a sort of saying: "hi there, I passed by, have a good time".
Sorry if I talk too much ... I just needed to get this out.

Wonderer,

i agree with some of what you said :)
but some comments cant be commented as someone say i agree with what u said !!
in that case i feel grateful for that but i dunno what to say back,
it doesn’t mean that this is rudeness as the owner of the blog has nothing new to add, but
i think i would only be sad if i asked that blogger a Q or i said an opinion as discussing an idea with that blogger & the blogger didnt comment it back.

ok tota I agree, but what do you say about bloggers whom you keep visiting and commenting on their ideas and they don't even bother to pay ONE visit to your blog. Isn't that offensive. ONE visit ... I believe that the essence of blogging is the interaction, feeling that someone reads your reflections and share them with you.

I agree with u on that :))

Thanks everyone for your feedback... keep it coming..

Yes Tota...maybe one of the things that makes me comment too is "feeling comfortable" towards the thing as a whole...

Nerro,
"but u feel like saying a simple word keda."
it happens fe3lan... when you just feel like writing something..
and I don't comment on political ones either :-D

Wonderer,
Khodi ra7tek ya gameel.. you don't talk too much ;-)
I feel you guys have really become cyber friends as I said in my post...
"Also, I hate it when I post a comment and the blog host does not reply, isn't that rude?"
I agree with Tota here that sometimes the blogger has nothing to add...but I usually find myself writing something like "Thanks guys" or whatever..

I am kind of new to Blogsphere(joined earlier this month) ,and blogging has become an addiction! ,I guess that because of number of reasons but the most important reason is that in the blogs I visit daily(like this one) I feel that most of bloggers are writing straight from their hearts to the blog's pages ,and I find it really pleasent for me to read posts carefully to write my comment ,sometimes I don't find anything to say but that in a rare cases till now ,but I mostly comment on the daily visted blogs.

Meme,

I would be offended if I sent someone a personal email & they didn't respond. I'd find that pretty rude.

But comments are different somehow. I love it when people take the time to leave comments for me. But I don't feel they owe it to me or that I have a right to be upset if they don't comment.

Maybe because with an email you're addressing a specific person directly so if they don't reply then they're ignoring you personally. But when I write posts am not really addressing anyone in particular. So comments are always a nice surprise.

I usually comment if I have a question or disagree with something or have something to add. Otherwise I really can't think of anything to write in a comment.

Sometimes I leave a comment & don't go back to check if there's been a reply aslan because khalas I said what I wanted & forgot about it. And the same happens to me. Sometimes someone leaves me a comment & I reply with a question or something. Then they don't reply. And I think ok they didn't come back to check again or they forgot. It doesn't really make me feel ignored or anything. At least it hasn't so far.

What I really hate is when someone I used to hear from regularly suddenly disappears from the blogosphere. No comments, no posts, no email. Nothing. Like I said here that worries me. Don't like to think that anything bad might have happened to anyone lasama7allah.

Guilty as charged!!

I do the same thing as well *hides away*

I used to comment on blogs i read everday as well *sigh* What's happened to us? Why have we stopped commenting as much?

You know what kind of sucks bigtime? When you comment on a blog, then you can't remember which blog it was; they should come up with a track thingie where you could track which blogs you commented on *sigh*

Anyways, super blog; will be back again. I've added you to my 'Must Read', hope you don't mind :)

Ta ta for now! :D

Me.... I miss you! I miss everyone! :-)

I think there could be so many reasons behind this commenting issue..

I for one am addicted to blogging. But I have so little time. I want to read all my favorite blogs.. but by the time i read a bit, i have to run do this or that, and i never get to read all or comment to all. Should i stop blogging then?

I agree with what loulou said about not being upset. The idea is we are blogging because we want to take things out freely and publicly, and also to make friends, also for interaction purposes. But we should not put it as a one to one thing.. I comment at your blog so you owe me one?

Maybe sometimes we all want people to share their opinions with us and we feel disappointed when we do not get any comments. But it should not really upset any of us seriously.

Where i am concerned. I try to read as much as i can what interests me. But what is bad is sometimes i do not get the time to write comments down all the time.

I have so much to do and by the time i finish commenting here and there i don't get time to comment every where i would like to. Moreover i also have my own posts. Sometimes to comment you need to read things and enrich yourself before commenting especially if it is something you lack enough info about. We should not just type down anything, right?

I do lots of research sometimes to post a comment.. Or to even make a post! It is time consuming, i even re read what i write in comments, just to make sure i did not say anything stupid (as best as i can, hehe)

But i know for fact now a days i do not have as much time as i did before Ramadan. Maybe now a days many people are busy and do not have much time because of the Worship which is more important.

At the end of the day.. WE should all blog what we want and take whatever comes and what ever doesn't, no worries...

Sou, i think you can add them to your favorites .. I do that when i'm afraid to loose track.. Try it. It could be a temporary solution that might help..

wonderer, i do agree one visit the least will do no harm.. but cheer up deary... take it easy.

I wanna add something.. I can never keep my comments short.. And i don't know what to do about that :-(
I worry it might bother people..it did one person before (a lot), but no one else complained, but i automatically ask the blog owner to forgive my long comment ever since my aquatiance with this other blogger.

Me forgive me.. a long comment as usual :-)

Me, I often visit and read blogs yet do not comment. Sometimes I just don't have anything relevant to add or just don't have the time. Even when I do not comment, though, know that I am reading...

I agree with Loulou and Dalulla. Comments shouldn't be treated one to one.

I like leaving a comment when I find something to say. Sometimes I like a post very much, but I don’t have anything to add. It's either that the blogger said it all, or that people who commented said what would I like to say. It all depends on my mood and thoughts triggered by the post. I've been a regular reader for many blogs without leaving a single comment before.

I can’t deny that I feel happy when I find someone commented on something I wrote. However, I don’t mind it if no one commented. I just write for letting it out, for expressing myself, and talking to my own self. But of course getting feedback from other people is always a plus.

Hello everyone ... I'm finally back !!! Feels like I've been away for ages !!!!
Mainly in my post I was "wondering why there are some blogs I read quite often yet I NEVER comment" ... other issues were brought up in your comments ... which was quite interesting actually.. thanks guys :-)

Nightlegend,
Welcome to my blog...love to see new faces !!!! I too, sometimes have nothing to say or add to the posts I read so I don't comment.... just like I would if I was sitting in a circle of people and I kept quiet....
PS. i'm addicted to blogging too ... but more in the sense of reading other peoples blogs :-D

Loulou,
"What I really hate is when someone I used to hear from regularly suddenly disappears from the blogosphere. No comments, no posts, no email. Nothing. Like I said here that worries me. Don't like to think that anything bad might have happened to anyone lasama7allah. "

I found it really touching when you did that ya gameela...

" Sometimes someone leaves me a comment & I reply with a question or something. Then they don't reply. And I think ok they didn't come back to check again or they forgot."

this happens quite often especially with the relatively "older posts"... and I too find it normal....

Sou,
Welcome welcome :-D Soooooooooooo...... guilt ey ? If you do find a way to track which blogs you commented on... do tell me... ok ?
C u around.... and thanks for adding me .. of course I don't mind !!!!!!!

Dalulla,
Take the space you want dear ... it's all yours ;-) Good to see you around.... you're right about this "not having time" issue ... there are times when I read the blogs like to check on a friend but I don't have the time to really sit and write ...

Jane,
Good to know you're around and reading :-)

Moonlightshadow,
hellloooooo ..
" I've been a regular reader for many blogs without leaving a single comment before."
Welcome to the club ;-)

Tota,
Thanks... enjoyed my flight el7amdulilah and here I am ... Allah yesalemik :-)
